Camp Belong
Waypoints is excited to announce its pilot program ‘Camp Belong’, which will be held at Springwood Outdoor Discovery Camp July 24 th – 27 th 2023. Approximately 12 children, ages 11-13, will be selected to attend the first camp in NL devoted entirely to supporting children who live with foster families and caregivers other than their immediate family.
Camp activities will aim to develop leadership and team-building skills for participants. It is our hope that from this positive interaction of children in care with each other, they will realize they are not alone, not the only child in care. We hope to have the kids develop long-lasting friendships and stay in touch with each other long after the camp ends. It will enhance their resilience, not create it, because these kids are the most resilient little people we know.
