I had the opportunity to visit Springwood Discovery Camp twice this past summer; once as a team-building activity with our Summer Camp staff and once with a youth group from our community. During both visits, the Springwood Camp staff were amazing and knowledgeable in helping guide both our staff and participants through a wide variety of activities. Throughout the visits, they were very accommodating to both our schedule and requests. The options for Recreational Activities are outstanding and provided many of our youth the chance to try Zip-lining, Kayaking, and much more for the first time. The many activities provide a unique experience that a lot of people don't often get to experience and the best part is that it can all be done in one place. Our staff team-building outing gave our staff the opportunity to truly come together as a team and set us up for success throughout the rest of the summer. To this day, staff still talk about how much fun they had on the outing and ask if we will be returning again next summer.

Thank you for welcoming our Lily Youth out to Springwood and providing us all with a weekend of laughter, fun, and further connections. In the time we were there, I witnessed such growth in our young people - and my heart was bursting with pride for each one of them in their own way. Our young people connected on a deeper level than they have been able to from within their homes; these connections have formed a much greater sense of belonging and togetherness. The weekend surpassed everything we envisioned as a staff, and I feel blessed and honored to have been there to not only witness it, but be a part of it as well.

Stella’s Circle has made use of the Springwood Outdoor Discovery Camp on two occasions. During both instances, our organization brought various staff teams from across Stella’s Circle to the facility. Our use was twofold. First, we were interested in exposing our staff to the facility so that we could fully consider its applicability to the clients served in our programs. Given the supportive research respecting exposure to nature and positive health outcomes, we have been especially interested in this sort of opportunity and setting.
Second, as an organization, we are always interested in identifying new and alternative meeting and wellness spaces for staff development and team building. The Springwood Camp facilities made for an excellent day with modern comfortable meeting space, well-maintained recreational equipment and walking trails, accommodating staff in a beautiful lakeside restorative setting. On both occasions, staff feedback was extremely positive with respect to the learning and wellness that was enhanced by the idyllic setting. We appreciated its location relative to St. John’s which made transportation straightforward from a cost and logistics perspective bringing staff to the location. We would highly recommend Springwood for your organization.

My name is Kathleen and I am a Family Support Worker with Waypoints who has used Springwood Discovery Camp for both personal and professional use. Child and Youth Care and Family Support work require building therapeutic relationships with young people and their families. Inviting families to join us for a day on this amazing site provides an opportunity for relationship building with staff and among family members that is like no other! The site is close enough to town to be easily accessible and far enough away to forget the hustle and bustle at home. The atmosphere is one of beauty, serenity and also excitement. The site is fully equipped and the staff have been welcoming, non-judgmental and accommodating. I have witnessed family members experience and master activities (zip lining, kayaking, ropes course, swimming, fishing, etc.) that they may have not gotten to enjoy otherwise. Being in nature and enjoying shared experiences has so much potential for strengthening relationships and I have had the pleasure to witness the benefits of this magical place first-hand. When we invite a number of families to the site at once, which the Family Support Program aims to facilitate several times each summer, young people and parents alike have the opportunity to build their social connections which is a significant protective factor. I highly recommend the use of Springwood Discovery Camp to anyone!
